2021 CIFTIS’ first trailer: Aug or Sep with digital focus

The first online promotion activity of the 2021 CIFTIS was held in the online meeting room of CIFTIS Digital Platform on the afternoon of January 15. The activity themed with 'CIFTIS Fuels New Development of Digital Trade' invited guests from relevant government departments, international organizations, embassies and consulates in China, foreign business associations in China and enterprises to share their ideas and insights online for promoting the global trade in services development in the digital economy era. And the activity announced the official initiation of the investment and exhibition invitation efforts for the 2021 CIFTIS.

As Sun Yao, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, said at the meeting, 2021 CIFTIS will be designed elaborately with its activities strictly following the global development trend of digital economy. According to the preliminary plan, the activity held from late August to early September this year, online and offline, will include Global Trade in Services Summit, forums, meetings, promotional business talks, achievements release, exhibitions and displays and other supporting activities., More than 120 activities are planned including exhibitions and displays and covering about 150,000 square meters, summit forums, brand-themed forums, industry conferences and promotional business talks.


As for exhibitions and displays, comprehensive and themed activities will be held. The former will have a digital service sector for the first time, where global and domestic leading digital service enterprises engaging in 5G, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing and the like will be invited to highlight the latest forefront progress, achievements and applications of digital, online and intelligent development of the global service industry to fuel the new development of digital economy and digital trade. The latter, on the other hand, will cover services related to telecommunication, computer and information, finance and insurance, culture and tourism, education, sports, transportation, construction, health and hygiene to fully display new formats, modes and achievements of the digital, online and intelligent development in these areas.

Forums and conferences will mainly seek to encourage extensive communication on digital trade. Among these activities, summit forums around the theme of digital trade will invite domestic and foreign renowned institutions, industry leaders and representatives from famous enterprises to discuss the trend and prospect of digital trade, lead the digital development and promote international cooperation. In terms of brand-themed forums and industry conferences, discussion and communication will be conducted on big data, sci-tech finance, digital publishing, online education, artificial intelligence, telemedicine and other subjects to activate the power of digital economy as an engine for various industries.



In addition, the 2021 CIFTIS will continue to adopt the online + offline mode, and the activity this year will further expand the platform functions and optimize user experience to continuously improve the service abilities of CIFTIS Digital Platform based on that of 2020 CIFTIS Digital Platform. Free services of the CIFTIS Digital Platform, including virtual exhibition halls, live-stream meetings, project release, online business talks and online agreement execution will be available for relevant organization and enterprise users to conduct international trade in services communication and negotiation.





At the meeting, Liu Meiying, the Specially Designated Deputy Director of the Leading Group Office of 'Two Zones'- the Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, introduced the progress and plan for the digital trade development in the two zones. She said, General Secretary Xi Jinping has defined digital economy as one of the three major features for developing China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the relatively ambitious objective of realizing 'safe and orderly data flow' is also mentioned in the scheme for developing the Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector. The next step of the 'Two Zones' construction will focus on providing the following powerful support for the digital economy and digital trade development in order to deepen the pilot project. First, build a 'trinity' digital trade pilot zone. Second, develop and complete the security system of cross-border data flow. Third, stimulate the power that spurs the innovative development of digital trade.


Zhang Qianjiang, Deputy Director-general of Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, Tamas Hajba, Senior Advisor, China Office of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Gareth Hargadon, Economic Counselor and Head of the Economic Department of Embassy of Ireland, China, Rolf Almklov, Commercial Counselor of Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, Head of China Office of Innovation Norway, Liang Liang, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Institute of Electronics, Wang Lina, Vice President of BEYONDSOFT as well as other guests, also shared their own insights on digital economy and digital trade, as well as their experiences in previous CIFTIS activities and expectations for the 2021 CIFTIS.
