CIFTIS Shougang Park Creating a Garden-Style International Exhibition Space with Newly-Added Green Landscape of 250,000 Square Meters

The 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) will be held at the Beijing National Convention Center and Shougang Park from September 2nd-7th, with the theme of "Towards Digital Future and Service Driven Development". As one of the dual venues of the 2021 CIFTIS, Shougang Park has received extensive attention with its unique new-style exhibition space pattern and garden-like environmental landscape. Up to now, Shougang Park has completed the municipal road construction and landscape greening in the exhibition area with a total area of approximately 250,000 square meters. Visitors will have a unique experience of the deep integration of modern exhibitions and industrial features and natural landscapes.

The main and auxiliary roads in Shougang Park have been fully connected. Brand-new exhibition venues have been built up with colorful landscapes. According to the person in charge of the project, up to now, the greening construction personnel have completed the paving area of 53,000 square meters and paved the asphalt road of 53,000 square meters; a total of nearly 1,300 trees and shrubs have been planted, including 300 plants transplanted from the other parts of the site and 900 plants purchased, and 60 balled-and-burlapped trees.

Due to the factors such as tight time, heavy tasks, continuous heavy rainfall, complex construction environment, and multiple cross-operations, landscape construction has been under tremendous pressure. In order to ensure the progress of the construction, four promotion teams have been set up to divide the exhibition area into 4 parts, from Hall 1 to Hall 15, from south to north, and from west to east. The entire area is gridded to clarify management points, determine contract responsibility, and ensure that greening construction and landscape engineering are completed in accordance with standards, requirements, and time limits.

The concept of green and environmental protection runs through the entire construction process of the Shougang Park venue. In accordance with the principle of repeated utilization, comprehensive utilization, and long-term utilization, Shougang Park has established 15 exhibition venues with an area of about 94,000 square meters. The main body of the venue is designed with a steel structure, which can be recycled later.

During the 2021 CIFTIS, the Shougang Park venue will meet the needs of 8 thematic exhibitions, supporting conferences, forums and other events, and strive to create a garden-style international event with post-industrial landscape features. The design concept of the new exhibition hall is benchmarked against international standards, drawing lessons from the special exhibition modes of Greenwich, Davos, etc., giving full play to the distinctive site characteristics of Shougang Park, conforming to the international trend, creating a settlement-style exhibition venue, and forming a landscape structure of "One Axial, Four Corridors and Multiple Points". "One Axis" means a central axis green corridor showing the style and features of the Shougang industrial site; "Four Corridors" means four ecological corridors linking Qunming Lake from east to west; "Multiple Points" means multiple characteristic theme parks and public service nodes, serving as an outdoor extension of the exhibition hall. By providing diversified spaces and services such as open green spaces, Urban SHOW fields, flexible squares, and shared spaces, Shougang Park highlights a cultural exchange atmosphere that is more suitable for the nature of trade of services and creates a unique CIFTIS with Beijing’s characteristics.
